Eventually 03:34
I lost my figure to the winter storms ate too much, drank too much liquor, all to keep me warm. What can you do when you love somebody and it’s gotten cold? What can you do when you love somebody that you cannot hold? Everything goes, eventually. Everything flows out into the sea Even the snow melts, eventually Not any time soon, but eventually. Not any time soon. I lost my footing on that icy road look, my skin’s bruising, but you wouldn’t know. What can you do when you love somebody and it’s gotten cold? What can you do when you love somebody that you cannot hold? You will fade, eventually. You will take off for that other sea. And I won’t ache, eventually. Not any time soon, but eventually. Not any time soon.

It’s been a long, long time since I thought of you It’s been a long, long time, like, a day or two You’re always on my mind, don’t know what to do It’s been a long, long time since I thought of you, oh. I’m always lonely, it’s a part of me I don’t need anybody’s help with that You say that you want me, do anything for me But, that ain’t the same as having my back. No, no, no, no, no. It’s been a long, long time since I’ve been at home It’s been a long, long time all the plants have grown It’s been a long, long time that I lived alone It’s been a long, long time since I’ve been at home. I’m always lonely, it’s a part of me I don’t need anybody’s help with that You say that you want me, do anything for me But, that ain’t the same as having my back. You seemed like a good one How could I forget that every present turns to past? I’m tired of the loves that never, never, never, never seem to last. They never, never, never seem to last They never, never, never seem to last And now I find myself playin’ a different tune My friends they think I’m sad – that ain’t true I cried a single tear and now I’m through ‘Cause now I find myself playin’ a different tune I’m always lonely, it’s a part of me I don’t need anybody’s help with that You say that you want me, do anything for me But, that ain’t the same as having my back. You seemed like a good one How could I forget that every present turns to past? I’m tired of the loves that never, never, never, never seem to last, oh. When you call I won’t be home I’m always alone But, I’m never home Because they never, never, never seem to last.

Salt 03:39
Nothing tells like wasting my time again Nothing tells like wanting to cry again Nothing tells like when I think of you What a lonely thing to do Rubbing salt in the wound Nothing tells like that look in your eye again Nothing tells like that far away smile again But, I can tell from my distant point of view That there’s nothing we can do But rub salt in the wound Is there a metaphor for this kind of loss? This I-once-knew-you-well kind of loss? This you-look-at-me-but-you-don’t-see-me kind of loss? Where every greeting feels like goodbye. Nothing hurts like that voice in my head again The cruelest words that break through my thickest skin And nothing hurts like believing that it’s true What a harmful thing to do Rubbing salt in the wound And is it evident that I’m kind of lost? I question everything, and I’m kind of lost I don’t know where I’m going I’m kind of lost And every greeting feels like, it feels like, it feels like Well, I never told you, because I didn’t know With all of the tears I was letting you go I guess you were never meant to stay for long I opened my eyes and I closed them and you were gone. Is there a metaphor for this kind of loss? This I-once-knew-you-well kind of loss? This you-look-at-me-but-you-don’t-see-me kind of loss? Where every greeting feels like goodbye.

For No Reason My neighbors are little twins, little twins like I once was They lie on the floor, and read stories of yore Stories that I once read But, now I sleep alone at night, sleep where we once used to lie Awake for hours, telling stories Not sleeping for no reason If you look to the trees, you will find what you seek You will find what you seek without searchin’ For, we break and we mend and we break then we end When we break is it for no reason? No reason One fine day, I met someone, and in those eyes I saw the sun We lay on the leaves and shared childhood stories That still circle ‘round my head But, now, my back has gotten sore, and my heart cries out for more For someone that can’t love me back Can’t love me for no reason If you look to the trees, you will find what you seek You will find what you seek without searchin’ For, we break and we mend and we break then we end When we break is it for no reason? No reason, Ooh, ooh, oooh If you look to the trees, you will find what you seek You will find what you seek without searchin’ For, we break and we mend and we break then we end When we break is it for no reason?
